There are rumors running around that Tony Stewart will leave Gibbs Racing when his contract runs at the end of 2009 or possibly sooner.
Two teams being discussed are Haas/CNC Racing where Stewart would co-own and drive one the cars or a new team forming with Billionaire John Menard.
Hmmm.
I saw the ones about Haas/CNC but no the one about a partnership with John Menard. Menard and Stewart have not talked to each other since Stewart's IRL days, as far as I know. Stewart has bitter feelings about Menard. But that is, at this point just as credible as the story about Haas/CNC.
I really don't think he'll ride out his contract till the end of 2009...unless Gibbs gives him mega bucks. And then I don't think he'll be happy. Tony likes to freshen things up every once in awhile otherwise he gets stagnant. He's not doing too much right now, so he needs a boost.
