1. Why doesn't NASCAR just hand Jimmie Johnson the Championship trophy now.

Earnhardt Jr. To Appear In Martinsville Speedway Fan Zone Before Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500

MARTINSVILLE, VA (February 4, 2010) – Dale Earnhardt Jr. will spend some time with fans before the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway on March 28.

Earnhardt, driver of the No. 88 AMP Energy/National Guard Chevrolet, is scheduled to make an appearance at the Martinsville Speedway Fan Zone prior to the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 for a question-and-answer session.

“Fans will really enjoy the question-and-answer session with Dale Jr. He’s always fun in these sessions but gives the fans a lot of information, too,” said Martinsville Speedway President W. Clay Campbell. “We’re just really pleased we were able to get him to make the appearance just a few hours before he races. That doesn’t happen in other sports.”

Earnhardt’s appearance will be an emceed question and answer session. There will not be any autograph sessions.

Admission to the Martinsville Speedway Fan Zone is $99 and includes pastries, juice and coffee for breakfast, lunch buffet, AMP Energy and Pepsi products, four beer coupons per adult and Pre-Race Track Pass.

The Pre-Race Track Pass allows fans to stroll on the track along the front stretch from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The $99 price does not include a ticket to the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500.

The Martinsville Speedway Fan Zone will open at 8 a.m. on March 28.

The continental breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. with the lunch buffet beginning at 10:30 am.

Dale Earnhardt, Inc. will hold its 9th Annual Dale Earnhardt Tribute on Thursday, February 18, 2010. The event, taking place at the DEI corporate office in Mooresville, N.C., has been held yearly since the loss of Dale Earnhardt in 2001. The Dale Earnhardt Tribute will celebrate Earnhardt’s life and pay tribute to the seven-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion.

The Dale Earnhardt Candlelight Tribute will provide fans the opportunity to interact and share their memories of the NASCAR racing legend. Everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to sign a guest book, and will receive a 2010 Dale Earnhardt Tribute decal.

The DEI showroom, which features memorabilia from Earnhardt’s racing career and DEI’s 30-year history in the sport, will be open to the public. Admission to the showroom is free of charge.

DEI will also be accepting donations to the Dale Earnhardt Foundation, the mission of which is to “Continue The Legend™” and legacy of Dale Earnhardt through charitable programs and grants that sustain his lifelong commitment to Children, Education and Environmental/Wildlife Preservation.

Budweiser Shootout Draw Party Set For Thursday At The SPEED Stage

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The first official act of the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup season will take place on Thursday night, Feb. 4 with the Budweiser Shootout Draw Party on the SPEED Stage located outside Turn 4 of historic Daytona International Speedway.

Drivers that are eligible for the 32nd annual Budweiser Shootout will draw their starting position for the 75-lap no-holds barred classic set for Saturday, Feb. 6 at the "World Center of Racing." The draw party, which begins at 8 p.m., is free and open to the public.

The Budweiser Shootout will feature a star-studded lineup with new criteria for the 2010 edition of the non-points race. Drivers eligible include:

• The 12 drivers who qualified for the 2009 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup
• Past NASCAR Sprint Cup champions
• Past Budweiser Shootout champions
• Past Daytona 500 and Coke Zero Powered by Coca-Cola champions
• The reigning Raybestos Rookie of the Year

Among the drivers that will be in the field include reigning Budweiser Shootout champion Kevin Harvick, four-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, two-time Budweiser Shooutout winner and 2004 Daytona 500 champion Dale Earnhardt Jr., three-time Daytona 500 champion Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin and Kasey Kahne.

The race distance will be continue to be 75 (187.5 miles) on the 2.5-mile tri-oval. The race will have two segments, of 25 and 50 laps. Both green- and yellow-flag laps will count.

Between segments, there will be a 10-minute pit stop at which time teams will pit and may elect to change tires, add fuel and make normal chassis adjustments.

Before and after the Budweiser Shootout, Grammy award-winning Zac Brown Band will perform before thousands of race fans with a pre- and post-race concert as well as the National Anthem.
